When it comes to electrical failure points, older receptacles are very high on the list. As soon as receptacles hit the 15 year mark in age, we begin to see them break down and fail. At the 20 to 30 year mark you see multiple failures in most homes when we are there to troubleshoot.
Why?
Well receptacles get a lot of use, often by kitchen appliances, tools, and even electronics can heavily load down a circuit. That wear and tear causes heat, and heat causes expansion, and that leads to loose connections that can cause failures, loss of power, and in some cases fire.
One of the simplest ways to combat this is to replace the aging receptacles. This is good as it allows the electrician to check all the connections at each receptacle, repairing and replacing as necessary, and to then install all new devices to ensure a safe and functional home.
If your home is older, or you have issues with plugs falling out of the receptacles, then don't hesitate to give Switched Electric a call to provide a quote on replacing all of your devices, or just those one or two that you know you need done.
